BEIJING (Reuters) – China is looking to expand trade with the Philippines during President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit this week, a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce said on Tuesday, as the two sides seek new commercial ties to soothe years of hostility.
Of course I don’t imagine President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug policy and his country’s posture in implementing his policy hurt relationships between the two countries.
In fact, I think it could be said that he has been soothing things with China for quite awhile now and in a way that made his position and posture towards China and away from the U.S.A. very clear.
